Highlights

  • Visit the royal city of Angkor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with over 100 temples dating back to the 9th century. The Angkor Wat and the Bayon Temple are two of the most impressive temples, intricately built with remarkable detail.

  • Relax on the white sand beaches of Sihanoukville, also known as Kampong Som. This also is the ultimate place to adventure in nature by exploring Ream National Park, snorkeling, or fishing.

  • Discover National Treasures of the Silver Pagoda, located within the Royal Palace compound in Phnom Penh. This is home to the Emerald Buddha of Cambodia and a life-sized gold Maitreya Buddha decorated with 9584 diamonds.

  • Visit historical sites such as Koh Ker; a land of spectacular buildings and enormous sculptures, and Banteay Srei; a temple built in 967 AD made of red sandstone with decorative wall carvings which are still prominent today.

  • Hike though the Cardamom Mountain region to discover a diverse jungle terrain filled with waterfalls, tranquil views, and roaming elephants.

Good to know

  • Travel in August to encounter a countryside full of rice fields and the temples blanketed in vegetation

  • Many natives are still affected by the violent ruling of the Khmer Rouge
